It's Nice to be Asked

Week 1 2020

A reminder to myself that I do this for my kids and grandkids...

I found this somewhere - The suggestion being that perhaps it is a bit narcissistic to be writing a blog....but...

But it’s also an opportunity to capture your own life more honestly—a way to remember what you were really like in one season of life, the mundane food photos alongside shots of scenic vacations or birthday parties. The mundane things you use your phone to document are the details that add up to a full life, what it was like to be alive right then.

and so to 2020!

Ben with friends in Amsterdam

We had street fireworks in Wijnjewoude

There was a Code Red weather warning out because of the fog! So there wasn't much to see of the fireworks...

A niece to Myanmar

One of our nieces is going to Myanmar, to help the locals build a "prosthetics workshop". She is part of a group from our village under the auspices of World Servants.
They are currently raising money to fund the travel and other aspects.

One of the fund-raising events was a New Year's Plunge at our new haven facilities at Wijnjewoude (Klein Groningen).
About 30 jumpers...

Our Jente...

again with the thumbs up!

It's nice to be asked...

Janny had a phone call asking if we (the Care Farm) would be interested in taking on the caretaking of the new Haven Facilities...

We have to know a bit more about it - we start back at work on the 6th of January, so we'll look at it then. It seems like an appropriate thing for us....but the boss will make up her mind after discussing it with our clients and volunteers.

Janny had a day out with a group of friends. Shopping (of course), an Escape Room and a "dot-painting" workshop.

I held the fort with the dogs...

and for the first time in 20 years, I ran out of firewood, so I had to split some really old knotty stuff that I still had in the hayshed

Janny put out an SOS and we were able to swap some of our new wood for old. But I think we will have to pay top price (about €80,00/m3 for oak) to get some dry stuff.

We seem to have been "too busy" the last 2 weeks with birthdays and funerals and Christmas and New Year...it will be nice to get back to our normal routine again!

And Ben leaves for South Africa on Tuesday...

  1. What a wonderfully full life you live and so much to record, so much better than hoping family and friends will delve through the albums etc. The blog is the answer, well done.
